Second-graders Host a Morning with the Bridges

Second-graders recently wrapped up a semester-long study of bridges with the culminating Morning with the Bridges, held Dec. 13. Family and friends were invited to view models of real-world bridges created by second-graders, who presented information about their models. Students recreated bridges from around the world, including the Samuel Beckett Bridge in Ireland, the Sydney Harbor Bridge in Australia, the Lucky Knot Bridge in China, and Cincinnati’s own John A. Roebling Bridge. Students spent time building their models and carefully researching their structure of choice. Students honed their geography and map skills earlier this semester by studying a bridge in their city, state, country, continent, and world. They examined other aspects as well, including the many types of bridges and their construction.
