Early Care and After the Bell

At Seven Hills, we know the length of a typical day is different for each of our students and their families. We offer before-school and after-school care programs for students in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. Our Doherty and Hillsdale campuses both open at 7:30 a.m. and don’t close until 6 p.m.

 

BEFORE SCHOOL CARE

Before school care is offered, free of charge, for students age 3 through grade eight starting at 7:30 a.m. For our pre-kindergarten for two-year-olds students, before school care is available beginning at 8a.m.

AFTER THE BELL

Our after school program, After the Bell, offers a variety of enrichment activities that complement the school day for pre-kindergarteners through eighth-graders. Children can choose to participate in Encore Club, enrichment programs, music lessons, or a combination of all three. After the Bell is available from 3:15-6 p.m. on both our Hillsdale and Doherty campuses.

 Our younger Lower School students have a fun place to play, learn, and explore in our programs. Whether they’re learning an instrument, pursuing special interests, or spending time with friends, students will enjoy these after school options. Middle School students staying on campus past 3:15 p.m. have an opportunity to join Encore Club, participate in music lessons, and register for after-school enrichment workshops or programs.

Lower School Programs (Pre-kindergarten through Grade 5)

Students keep their minds and bodies active in Encore Club. Early Childhood and Lower School children are grouped by grade-level and our dedicated staff plan an exciting array of activities that include art, games, and active play. Students will have the opportunity to enjoy time with friends following a busy day of learning. Parents do not have to make reservations and we offer a flexible fee schedule with annual, daily, and hourly options.

Is your child an artist? Scientist? Maybe a chess player? Children can explore these passions and others in our specialty enrichment programs. We offer eight-week fall, winter and spring sessions, as well as a mini session.

WEBBY Dance

WEBBY Dance Company is offering an action packed, exhilarating dance after school. With more than 400 dances in our curriculum, students are regularly introduced to exciting new routines. Our instructor will introduce your child to beginning ballet, jazz, rhythm/movement, choreography and dance combinations in a studio style setting. We provide fun and unique props to learn routines using age appropriate music by today’s current artists, including songs like Can’t Stop the Feeling, Better When I’m Dancing, and Starships. WEBBY Dancers learn technique such as picot turns, jazz squares, barrel turns, hitch kicks, and more. Students will benefit and learn dance effectively by building their creativity, coordination, concentration, memory and self-confidence, all in a positive atmosphere.

Earth Protectors

Outdoor education and investigation are a huge part of the learning process for every child. During this class, children will learn how to be the “superheroes” of our precious planet. Each week, a new topic about our environment will be introduced and activities will be centered around earning a “superhero badge” to help save the environment!

Grades: Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten

Dates: Thursdays

Time: 4-4:45 p.m.

Mission2Move

For even the youngest students, movement has the ability to create new neural connections and improve brain function. Join us for 45 minutes of action packed movement, covering new movement patterns, neural drills, and mindfulness. Our neural drills are a tool for students to make movement a part of their day no matter where they are. Our mindfulness component begins to teach even the youngest practitioners what emotions are and how we have power over our own.

Grades: Pre-kindergarten and Kindergarten

Dates: Mondays

Time: 4-4:45 p.m.

Fee: $140

Theater Improv Theater games are a great way to help your child break out of their shells and let their creative spirit flourish! Each week, children will learn fun improv games and catch the theater bug as they learn different acting tips and tricks that help build confidence all while having fun. By the end of the session your child will be sure to be the star of the show!

Writing with Intention

This after school writing program will provide a safe and inspiring environment for girls and boys to explore self-expression, writing, reading their words out loud, and listening to one another.  Age appropriate relevant themes and ideas will be explored. Participants will experience themselves as a community of writers learning the art of self-expression through poetry, storytelling and journal-writing

Artistic Impressions There is nothing quite like learning about the art of the most famous artists from around the world. Has your child ever wanted to paint like Picasso or draw like Da Vinci? In this art class children will make creative interpretations of famous art works and begin to learn very basic skills that could help one day transform them into a world famous artist. The only requirement is that children come each day ready to get creative!

Cosplay: Bringing Characters to Life Ever want to bring your favorite characters from a book or movie to life? Through character design and costume creation, children will be able to make wearable pieces, clothes, and relics that their favorite characters use in their adventures. New skills learned will include sewing, design, and character creation. If your child loves fantasy, Disney, Marvel and the like this class is the perfect fit.

Grades: 1-5

Chess Club This group will meet weekly to learn foundational ideas in the game of chess. We’ll start out with the basics: how the chess pieces move, the three stages of a chess game, and how a game is won. We’ll also focus on some of the life skills chess can teach us, such as learning to make and adapt plans, thinking from someone else’s perspective, and creative problem-solving. Along the way there will be puzzles, mini-games, and fun chess variants. While experienced players are welcome, this group is geared towards students who are new to the game.

Minecraft

Battle your friends in an all-out player v. player hunger games competition. Students will build their own worlds and work on a masterpiece to battle other students throughout the session.

Students can participate in special, one-day events that take place on both our Hillsdale and Doherty campuses through our mini sessions. Students must register and can participate in programs regardless of the hosting campus. The Seven Hills shuttle bus is available to transport students in kindergarten through fifth-grade between our campuses to the mini session. Return transportation is not available.

Students with an interest in music can register for a variety of lessons, including drums, guitar, piano, violin, and voice. Music lessons are available for students starting at 5 years of age through fifth grade. Our talented teachers offer lessons on a weekly basis during the school year. Lessons are scheduled based upon teacher availability. Sessions are $30 for each 30-minute, private session.

MIDDLE SCHOOL (GRADES 6 THROUGH 8)

The Middle School Encore Club provides students an opportunity to gather with friends in a relaxed atmosphere. Students can choose to do homework or other quiet activities in the Middle School commons.

A variety of enrichment workshops and programs are offered throughout the school year. All program information is included in the weekly Middle School email blast.

Middle School students can explore their musical passions at after-school music lessons. Our teachers share their talents for drums, guitar, piano, violin, and voice in classes held on a weekly basis during the school year. Lessons are scheduled based upon teacher availability. Sessions are $30 for each 30-minute, private session.
