Important Skills I Want to Teach my Students

The most important things I want to teach my students is to LOVE books and reading! It is also important to teach skills for information and media literacy, as well as how to be a good digital citizen.

Teaching Methods to Reach These Goals

We are going to read lot of different types of books in the library. Student will have time to self-select and check out reading materials. We will use instructional technology to support research skills and classroom learning. In the upper grades, we will have targeted digital citizenship and media literacy lessons, activities, and discussions.

My Favorite Projects

I have been excited to bring BreakoutEDU to Lotspeich. BreakoutEDU is an immersive learning game that crosses all content areas. Students work in groups to solve puzzles and complete activities. Collaboration and a growth mindset are needed to successfully break out.

What I Like Best About Teaching at Seven Hills

Working as the Lotspeich librarian is my dream job. It combines my two teaching passions—literacy and educational technology. I love helping students find those “just-right” books and working with students and teachers to use best research practices and technology in the classroom.
