Important Skills I Want to Teach My Students

In pre-kindergarten, it is important to instill students with a love of learning through engaging in developmentally-appropriate activities, exploring questions about the world, and collaborating with peers. In pre-kindergarten, and the Early Childhood Center in general, we are working to help each child build a solid foundation in academic subjects and develop social-emotional skills necessary for future success in the classroom.

Teaching Methods to Reach These Goals

Our curriculum is child-centered and based on the interests of the children to encourage optimum engagement from our students. Research-based practices, such as Handwriting Without Tears, Orton-GIllingham phonics, and content standards, drive lesson planning and curriculum mapping based on the needs of each child and classroom.

My Favorite Projects

I personally enjoy the holidays around the world unit in December. It provides a great opportunity for students and families to share with us what is important to them and how they celebrate different holidays in their home. The willingness to build connections with families and include them in our learning is something special about the Seven Hills community.

What I Like Best About Teaching at Seven Hills

I enjoy the individuality we are able to maintain as educators. We all have unique styles and backgrounds. We are encouraged to look for ways to improve our curriculum and create an exceptional educational environment for our students and families. We are also encouraged to engage in continuing education and training to maintain best teaching practices in the classroom.
