Sophomore to Perform Solo with CSO

The Seven Hills School is pleased to announce sophomore Andrew Yang has just been selected to play a solo during an annual side-by-side performance with the Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra and the CSYO Philharmonic Youth Orchestra, a prestigious tradition.

Yang, along with four other student musicians across the region, including Seven Hills freshman Kathryn Guo, auditioned at Music Hall on Nov. 10, for the position. He will play the famous solo, Franz Waxman’s “Carmen Fantasie,” during an April 2019 performance at Music Hall.

“This is a really big deal,” said Seven Hills instrumental music teacher John Rising, adding that Yang is a stellar, hard-working student musician. “This side-by-side concert gives Andrew an extremely amazing opportunity to solo with two fantastic orchestras!”

Yang, along with six other Seven Hills students, will perform in the Ohio Music Education Association Southwest Regional Honors Orchestra on Sunday, Nov. 18, at Hamilton High School. All concerts are free and open to the public.
