Unit III Uses App to Bring Explorers to Life

Unit III students in Dana Pease and Bill Schmidt’s classes recently finished a unit on explorers. In order to give the students a deeper perspective on the historical figures of their choice, Pease and Schmidt asked the students to make a video autobiography using the app, Chatterpix. “The students researched the explorer and recorded themselves using Chatterpix, which creates an image of the explorer that appears to speak using mouth movements that sync up with the students’ recordings, as if it is talking,” said Pease. The students watched and listened to each other’s presentations, which were posted on SeeSaw in blog format. “The students really enjoyed learning about these explorers in this way,” said Pease. “They posted several comments about their peers’ video creations and said they were able to gain insights from the presentations because they were so unique.”
