Students dive into group dynamics with “Lord of the Flies”

Laura Clemens’ eighth-graders English class worked together to create mini survival shelters to simulate being stranded on a deserted island, during their “Lord of the Flies” unit. While constructing, students also analyzed people’s ability to naturally find roles within groups, such as leaders and followers, and compared their own dynamics to the students from the novel.
