Seven Hills Wins AP Computer Science Female Diversity Award

Seven Hills was recently named by the Advanced Placement Program as a top school that has expanded young women’s access to AP Computer Science Principles (CSP). “This achievement is clearly a result of a schoolwide, years-long commitment to computer science education in grades K-12,” said computer science teacher Marcus Twyford. The Advanced Placement Program stated, “This award acknowledges 1,119 schools for their work toward equal gender representation during the 2019-20 school year—nearly 37% more than the 818 schools recognized last year.” The report included that Seven Hills is only one of 831 schools to be recognized for achieving at this level. According to the Advanced Placement Program, new research shows that female students who take AP computer science are more likely to major in computer science in college compared with matched peers.
