Seven Hills Congratulates Our 2015 National Merit Scholarship Award Winner

Alayna Choo

The Seven Hills School Congratulates our National Merit Scholarship Award recipient Alayna Choo. She is one of only 99 students to receive this prestigious $2,500 scholarship award to a college of her choice. Choo will attend University of Pennsylvania.

In addition to her academic achievements, Choo has shown dedication in a number of disciplines. She has been a member of Seven Hills’ Cum Laude Society chapter for the past two years. During the summer of 2014, she participated in an academic program at Washington University. Choo is also involved in a number of project-based events, such as Model U.N., and she plays the flute in the Seven Hills Upper School Symphonic Ensemble.

Choo is one of several outstanding Seven Hills students who have been recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation this school year, for a number of achievements. During the fall of 2014, The National Merit program recognized 11 Seven Hills seniors who qualified as Semifinalists, as well as an additional 11 students who qualified as Commended scholars in the 2015 National Merit Scholarship Program. In February 2015, 10 Seven Hills students qualified as National Merit Finalists, including one student who later received a National Achievement Scholarship.

National Merit Scholarship winners are among a very select group of students with high PSAT scores and strong academic records. More than 1.4 million high school juniors across the country this year competed for 7,600 positions and a pot of $34 million in scholarship money.
