SECOND GRADERS HOST A MORNING WITH THE BRIDGES

Second graders recently wrapped up a semester-long study of bridges, culminating with Morning with the Bridges, held Dec. 16. Each student invited two guests to view their models of real-world bridges. Students recreated bridges from around the world, including the Pont des Arts in France, the Sydney Harbor Bridge in Australia, the Dragon Bridge in Vietnam, and the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge in South Carolina. Students spent time building their models and carefully researching their structure of choice. For their semester-long unit, students honed their geography and map skills earlier this semester by studying bridges in their city, state, country, continent, and world. They examined other aspects as well, including the many types of bridges and their construction.
