Pre-kindergartners Blend Art with Kindness

Pre-kindergarteners on the Doherty Campus worked with Doherty art teacher Kacey Watkins to apply their art lesson to a shape-based project about kindness. Students read the book, “Snippets,” by Diane Alber, then used the story as their muse to make works of art using shapes. “Snippets is a story that reveals the power of kindness and the beauty of being kind to others,” said Watkins. “Using two different groups of shapes, such as polygons and irregular polygons, Pre-K students found ways to combine them to make interesting works of art,” said Watkins. “This lesson was about creativity but also about the importance of kindness.”
