Practicing Reading, Writing, and Spanish Skills in Unit I

Unit I students in Amy Kulhavik’s class spent the first day of school brushing up on their name writing skills. Later in the week, students read the books “Chairs on Strike,” “Pencils on Strike,” and “Scissors on Strike” by author Jennifer Jones to learn about the every day tools in their classroom and how to use them safely. The students then made art projects, but with their scissors on strike, they had to rip the shapes to create a forest, ocean, flower, and other creative designs.

In Kristen Diersing’s Spanish class, the Unit I students practiced their singing and dancing skills while learning the names for body parts with a song called “Juanito cuando baila.” “They were singing loud and proud after hearing the song just one time!” Diersing said.
