Teaching Philosophy
Important skills I want to teach my students
I want my students to fall in love with learning and exploring, to have fun at school and love coming to school. I want my students to learn to socialize appropriately, problem solve, advocate for themselves, progress developmentally, and seek independence in the classroom.
Teaching methods to reach these goals
I reach these goals with kindness, love, caring about each student’s well-being, and being a good observer of child behavior. I provide an environment that is cognitively challenging with some safe risk taking, and I model appropriate behavior and words the children need to use to solve problems.
My favorite projects
I enjoy Cultural Connections Week, which is like making a country come to life. Another favorite is our Prekindergarten Mini Pig fun run, which promotes fitness and healthy habits. I also love starting the year with Owl Babies, a book about baby owls who miss their mommy but their mommy always comes back. This is reassuring to very young students as they start school.
What I like best about teaching at Seven Hills
I love having the opportunity to collaborate with other teachers to plan big events like the prekindergarten “airplane trip” experience. These are thrilling, unforgettable learning experiences for our students.
