Important skills I want to teach my students
I want my students to understand where the formulas and equations we use in class come from. I also want my students to come away from math class with a deeper understanding of why we do what we do and not to be math-phobic.
Teaching methods to reach these goals
We derive formulas and equations together, instead of my simply giving them to the class. Students work collaboratively to arrive at answers, and they present problems to the class.
My favorite projects
Students apply math skills to solve a dramatic story involving a mysterious inheritance and unrequited love.
What I like best about teaching at Seven Hills
I enjoy the freedom to create my own lessons and the ability to collaborate with my peers. I appreciate my many very motivated students.
