Mike Combs, Omar Cummings join Seven Hills as Boys Varsity Soccer Coaches

The Seven Hills School has announced Mike Combs as their new head boys varsity soccer coach.

Combs was the head soccer coach for Cincinnati State for 14 years and most recently served as the head boys varsity soccer coach at Mason High School, where he had a three-year record of 43-9-4.

“I’m honored and excited to become the head boys varsity soccer coach at Seven Hills. I’m looking forward to making an immediate positive impact within the entire soccer program,” Combs said.

Joining Combs as a top assistant is former FC Cincinnati and Jamaican National Team player Omar Cummings. After playing for Cincinnati State and the University of Cincinnati, Cummings went on to win the MLS Cup with the Colorado Rapids in 2010 and play for FCC before retiring in 2017.

Combs coached Mason to three straight Greater Miami Conference Titles and won Coach of the Year twice. At Cincinnati State, he had a record of 223-50-13 and led the team to 12 Ohio Community College Athletic Conference championships. Under Combs’ leadership, the Surge also earned three regional titles, two district titles, and three NJCAA National Tournament appearances. He was named OCCAC Coach of the Year 10 times and NJCAA Regional XII Coach of the Year three times.

In Combs’ 14 seasons, the Cincinnati State soccer program was ranked in the top 15 nationally and produced 16 All-Americans.

Combs has been working at Seven Hills as a lower school physical education teacher since the start of the 2021-22 school year.

“The opportunity to teach and coach at this phenomenal school will allow me the greatest opportunity to make a positive impact on our student athletes and lead a program that the athletic department and the Seven Hills community will be proud of,” Combs said.
