Maker Mornings in the library
Whether it’s building with Legos, decorating bookmarks, or making 3D doodles, Doherty students have a chance to flex their early morning maker skills. Librarian Jo Schnirring started Maker Mornings, where before school starts Doherty students can complete maker activities in the library. All the activities are themed around arts and crafts, engineering, or technology. She started the program to utilize the makers tools she has in the library outside of regular class time. Each unit comes on different days so she can tailor the activities based on grade level. “It’s so important for the students to be collaborative and work together. Purposeful play is always important,” Schnirring said.
