Irish Dance and History in Social Studies

In honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Unit II learned about Irish history and music from Doherty parent and Irish dancer and fiddler Charlotte Gray in their social studies class. The students got to see replicas of artifacts from the time of St. Patrick, more than 1,000 years ago, had a demonstration of Irish dancing from one of their classmates, heard how Gray’s family immigrated from Ireland during the Irish Potato Famine, and got to practice Irish dance steps to Gray’s fiddle.
