Eighth-grade French Students Create “Le Photo Roman”

Eighth-graders in Jacky Kalubi’s French class recently took a dive into digital storytelling. Kalubi asked students to create “le photo roman.” “It is a mix between a graphic novel, a comic book, a photo album, a scrap book, and a telenovela,” she said. Students took several photographs that, when put together, told a story. After taking the photos, students projected them onto the board and described action and dialogue for each panel in French. Students were asked to use not only proper conjugation, but also fun onomatopoeias to enhance their stories.
