Doherty Campus Celebrates Lunar New Year through Dance

Doherty music teacher Maria Eynon’s Unit I music class is taking a musical journey to discover how different families celebrate the new year. One focus is the Chinese Lunar New Year. “Our Unit I students have been reading books, such as “The Year Naming Race,” a Chinese folktale, and the song, “Go a Tin,”” said Eynon. “It has been fun discovering how Chinese families prepare and celebrate this happy holiday, and we have enjoyed having our students who are celebrating Chinese New Year share their own special family traditions as well. It has opened our eyes to how we celebrate holidays differently, and it has opened our hearts to see how we are all connected.”
