Congrats Seven Hills Girls on the Run Teams!
The Seven Hills Girls on the Run teams completed the Girls on the Run 5K in downtown Cincinnati on May 7. The 5k was the culmination of the 10-week training program that the girls completed in the GOTR clubs at Doherty and Lotspeich Lower Schools. “Girls on the Run not only teaches girls how to successfully train for and run a 5k, it teaches them important life lessons about leadership, self-esteem, and confidence. It gives girls a tool box of skills to tackle issues that young girls face every day, all while teaching them to be the future leaders of tomorrow,” said Christina O’Donnell, assistant director of enrichment and summer programs and Lotspeich coach. The Lotspeich team is also coached by teachers Aimee Burton, Yael Newman and Laura OGrady; parent Anna Topalidis, and volunteers Rose Kaplan, Annie Altenau, and Erin Lever. Doherty teacher Julie Guminey is the team’s head coach with fellow teachers Dana Peace and Julie Brackett as assistants. To prepare for the big race, the teams ran a practice 5K on the Hillsdale and Doherty Campuses in late April. Good job, runners and coaches!
