Boys Golf Seeks Another State Title

The Seven Hills Boys Golf Team is headed to the OHSAA State Tournament held at The Ohio State University Golf Club, Oct. 13 and 14. Junior Max Lane and senior John Stewart will be returning to the state tournament this year, along with their teammates sophomore Egan Dewitt, seniors Lou Ann Kovach and Ben Schiff, and junior Michael Weirich. The Stingers placed second at the district tournament held at the Glenview Golf Course on Oct. 4, shooting a combined team score of 344 and securing their spot in the State Tournament. “The Seven Hills golf team was able to make it out of districts,” said coach Doug Huff. “It was a complete team effort and the players grinded out there on the course. I don’t believe they ever lost hope and I think the strong schedule we play helped prepare them for success at districts.” Huff is excited to make it back to state again this year. “Any time you make it to the state tournament it is a huge deal,” he said. “We are fortunate enough that we made it back to defend our state title. Our plan is to play with focus and discipline and not have any blow-up holes. I think if we play well enough then we have a good shot at winning again.” The Stingers will tee off at 10 a.m. Friday and hope to move on to finals on Saturday. Good luck to all those competing!
