Teaching Philosophy

What is/are most important skill(s) you want to teach your students?

I want to teach my students to understand the beauty of different cultures and learn to really use language to make more friends and explore the world.

What teaching methods do you use to help accomplish those objectives?

In my class, we have a lot of fun, real-life situations incorporated into lessons, which can help students practice the Chinese language in a more natural setting. We also do lots of interactive games and activities to allow students to learn the language in a fun and relaxing environment. In my class, we are all best friends with each other. No one is embarrassed to make mistakes since we are all there to help each other grow.

What is your favorite project or activity of the year?

My favorite project is the current events presentation, which we do every school year. Students will find a Chinese-related news story and present it to the class. They tell their classmates why this news is important and how it is going to impact the community in China and in the world. By doing this, students will develop a better understanding of the world as a global citizen, and gain the skills of objectively analyzing foreign issues.

What do you like best about teaching at Seven Hills?

My favorite part about teaching at Seven Hills is the students. I have been to many schools, but never found any place as friendly as here. Students are very lovely, respectful, and hardworking. They are all so eager to learn and master the skills that I teach.
