Teaching Philosophy

Important skills I want to teach my students

I want to teach my students how to think critically and creatively about challenging problems and to be able to communicate their ideas in an effective and clear manner.

Teaching methods to reach these goals

I feel that it is very important for my students to experience the subject matter in a hands-on way. I incorporate labs, design challenges, and simulations to engage the students with the material and push them to think critically about what they experience.

My favorite projects

I really enjoy working with the students on their solar power cookers. They grasp how much energy the sun provides and how such simple technology can be used to solve a wide variety of problems.

What I like best about teaching at Seven Hills

My favorite aspect of teaching at Seven Hills is the strong sense of community I have felt since I started teaching here. I have the resources to teach to the best of my ability, and I am surrounded by gifted educators who are always willing to help me improve.
