Teaching Philosophy

Important skills I want to teach my students

Besides the language skills (reading, listening, speaking, and writing), my focuses are the social skills: communication, working with all types of students, diversity, leadership, and responsibility.

Teaching methods to reach these goals

Lecture and demonstration: to present new grammar concepts with PowerPoint presentations, collaborative learning: students work together in groups using cooperative learning structures by Dr. Spencer Kagan (structures are situations in which students are grouped to promote engagement, social and thinking skills, learning, collaboration, etc.), role play and kits: student act out conversations and situations based on the theme of the chapter.

My favorite projects

What I like best about teaching at Seven Hills

What I like best about teaching at Seven Hills is the freedom I have to teach my courses as best I can, and the support given to accomplish that; the ongoing encouragement for professional development; the support, respect, and professionalism among the faculty.
