Teaching Philosophy

Important skills I want to teach my students

I would like students to feel as confident and independent as possible when traveling in a Francophone country. They should be able to communicate comfortably using all four language skills: listening, speaking, reading, and writing.

Teaching methods to reach these goals

I use a variety of sources — stories, videos, songs, and the textbook — to provide context-rich input. My focus is on authentic communication through engaging games and interactive activities that help students practice vocabulary and grammar in meaningful ways.

My favorite projects

I especially enjoy teaching literature and poetry in French advanced studies, as well as the “Jobs” unit in French 3. For that theme, students create a job fair where they write résumés, job offers, and cover letters, then participate in mock interviews with one another. Students always come up with fun job offers!

What I like best about teaching at Seven Hills

I truly appreciate the collaboration among teachers, administrative staff, and parents to both support and challenge students, helping them reach their full potential.
