Teaching Philosophy

Important skills I want to teach my students

I aim to see my students develop a love and excitement for speaking another language. I hope to have them work through their fears of making mistakes so that they can enjoy communicating in Spanish.

Teaching methods to reach these goals

We try to have as much time communicating in Spanish as possible. When we take away the option of communicating in English, the students find they have what it takes to communicate in Spanish.

My favorite projects

My favorite unit to teach is the restaurant unit. Students love learning how to order food in Spanish. We wrap up the unit with an in-class restaurant, where I serve tamales, totopos y salsa, and churritos.

What I like best about teaching at Seven Hills

I love getting to know my students. We do have the best students! I also am so grateful for the rich cultural diversity of my colleagues in the world language department. We have a great time together.
