Setting goals and pursuing excellence

Three Upper Schoolers visited Doherty at their monthly assembly to talk about setting and achieving goals and the Seven Hills value of pursuing excellence. Seniors Rex Shaffer and Margret Schnirring and junior Erin Jackson shared the goals they had for themselves at Doherty and throughout their time at Seven Hills. Fifth graders Sajni Puri and Michael Graham shared the goals they have set for 2024, like finding a way to help animals and getting their soccer team to a tournament, that they worked on with counselor Angie Bielecki.

Unit I learns about the Solar System from Middle Schoolers

Seventh graders ventured to the Doherty Campus to read their books about the solar system to Unit I. The seventh graders did deep research into a planet and wrote a book for a first-grade audience that included facts and a moral lesson for the Doherty students to learn from and enjoy. The Unit I students practiced their listening skills, while learning about space.

Tubing at Perfect North

On Feb. 9, first through fifth graders went to Perfect North Slopes for a tubing field trip. It was a great day with many multi-age groups of students linking their tubes to fly down the hill. Even the teachers got involved!

Ice exploration in PK2

As part of their study of arctic animals, the pre-kindergarten for 2-year-old students explored an iceberg and arctic animals. They experimented with ice by adding warm water and seeing what happened. The act of scooping, pouring, and collecting their ice and snow allowed for sensory exploration and the building of fine motor skills.

100 Days at Doherty

It’s the 100th day of school! To celebrate, the Doherty kindergartners dressed as 100-year-olds and paraded around campus to tell their classmates that it is the 100th day of school. Throughout the week, the kindergartners have been doing various writing, reading, and math activities all centered around the number 100. They collected and counted 100 items for their 100 museum and wrote what it would be like to be 100-years-old.

Celebrating Lunar New Year

With parades, musical instruments, a guest speaker, and decorations, Doherty students celebrated Lunar New Year and the year of the dragon. The pre-kindergarten for 2-year-old and pre-kindergarten students had parades to scare off monsters and welcome good luck for the coming year. Pre-kindergartner Brianna Wang and her mom Dr. Xiangling Wang taught the Doherty pre-kindergarten and kindergarten students about how their family celebrates Lunar New Year. They learned about decorations, the importance of the color red, and it being the year of the dragon.
