Swimming Stingers at State

Girls swimming finished fourth overall at the state tournament. Senior Ella Jo Piersma won and set a new state record for the 100 Butterfly. She also won the 200 Freestyle. The wins gave her a total of six career state titles. Senior Corinne Kieser placed seventh in the 200 Freestyle and eighth in the 100 Freestyle. The relay team of Piersma, Kieser, and juniors Carolyn Wolujewicz and Josie Domet placed fourth in the 200 Freestyle relay. For the boys, junior Sam Adams finished 14th in the 100 Backstroke. The swimmers qualified for state based on their performance at the district meet. Piersma won the 200 Freestyle and 100 Butterfly. The relay team placed second in the 400 Freestyle relay and third in the 200 Freestyle relay. Adams placed sixth in the 100 Backstroke. At sectionals on Feb. 11-12, Piersma won the 200 Freestyle and the 100 Butterfly. Kieser won the 100 Freestyle and took second in the 200 Freestyle. Domet won the 50 Freestyle and finished second in the 100 Freestyle. The relay team won the 200 and 400 Freestyle relays. Adams won the 100 Backstroke.

Squash Team competes at Nationals

Seven Hills’ first official squash team competed at the U.S. High School Team Squash Championship in Philadelphia Feb. 25-27. The team went 2-2 over the course of the tournament and finished 10th for Division II teams and 26th in the country. Congrats, Stingers!

Bowling is MVC Champs

The boys bowling team won the Miami Valley Conference title with an in-conference record of 13-1 and an overall record of 16-2. The Stingers placed fourth at the sectional match and qualified for and competed in the district tournament. At sectionals, junior Jonny Osman placed 10th overall. The team set a new school record with an overall score of 3,854. For the girls, junior Erin Finn finishing 21st overall at sectionals and qualified and competed at districts. In the boys team’s last regular season match against Summit Country Day, the Stingers broke three school records. They set the record for team regular high game of 1,046. The other two were records previously set by the same players last season: the team regular game total and the team total.

Senior has strong showing at gymnastics tournament

Senior Emma Schlueter had a strong performance at the City Championships in mid-February. She finished third in the all-around thanks to her second place finish for the floor routine and third place finish on vault. She and freshmen Evie Ferguson qualified and competed at districts. Schueter placed 27th overall.

Boys Basketball Competes at Sectionals

The Stingers finished the regular season in third place in the division with an in-conference record of 8-4. They competed in the sectional tournament on Feb. 19. Junior Jaden Sims and senior Eli Joffe were third and fourth in the Miami Valley Conference in field goal percentage for the season. Sims was also fifth in steals. Thanks for a great season, Stingers!

Cheerleading Honors Seniors

After a season of hyping up the crowd in Kalnow, the cheerleading squad honored its seniors on Feb. 9. The seniors are Gabrielle Christmon, Laeiticia de Cavel, Lyn Price, Lucy Schneider, Paris Weems, and Addie Wilger. Congrats, Stingers!
