Athletes learned about positivity in sports
All of Seven Hills’ Upper School students competing in spring sports went through a workshop with the Positive Coaching Alliance to learn ways to make themselves and their sport better. At the start of the 2021-22 school year, Seven Hills entered into a three-year partnership with Positive Coaching Alliance, a nonprofit that works to provide youth and high school athletes with a positive and character building sports experience. “The partnership is for us to get better as athletes, as coaches, and as fans,” Athletic Director Scott Willard said. Ken Harkenrider, from Positive Coaching Alliance, led athletes as they discussed different types of competition, what makes an effective leader on their respective teams, and the importance of being a mentor. “It is not about winning the game today, it’s about mastering the skills that over time are going to make you a better athlete,” Harkenrider said.
