Squash teams compete in St. Louis

The girls and boys varsity squash teams competed in the MICDS Ashes Invitational in St. Louis and qualified for the national tournament. The girls team won four matches 8-0 and only lost one match to MICDS, the reigning DIII champion. The boys had an excellent showing in their first tournament as a team. The U.S. High School Championship will take place in Philadelphia Feb. 24-26. Congrats and good luck, Stingers!

Basketball coach gets 200th win

Boys varsity basketball head coach Willie Hill got his 200th career win with the Stingers’ 65-29 defeat of Miami Valley Christian Academy on Jan. 3. Hill has been the head coach since 2002 and is being inducted into the Seven Hills Athletic Hall of Fame on Jan. 26. By Jan. 18, Coach Hill got up to 203 wins with the Stingers defeating St. Bernard-Elmwood Place with an impressive score of 59-27, narrowly beating Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy 56-54, and defeating Clark Montessori 69-44.

Bowling Win Streak Continues

The boys and girls varsity bowling teams are both on a seven match win streak, having not lost since late November. In the defeat of Clark Montessori on Jan. 3, senior Erin Finn led the girls with 389, which earned her a nomination for the Enquirer’s top Ohio girls bowler of the week for Jan. 9. In the win over Purcell Marian, senior Jonny Osman led the boys with 421. The Stingers also both defeated Walnut Hills and Norwood to bring their records to 8-1 on the season. The teams competed at the D2 Warrior Tournament in Columbus on Jan. 15. Osman finished third overall and the boys team took third place. The girls finished seventh overall with senior Shanaya Bharucha leading the team.

Girls basketball second in division

The girls varsity basketball team is 9-2 and 7-1 in conference, putting them second in the Miami Valley Conference Gray Division. The Stingers defeated St. Bernard-Elmwood Place High School 66-23 and Finneytown High School 40-26. Junior Margret Schnirring is third in the MVC with assists and sophomore Reagan Licata is third in field goal percentage.
