IT'S THE GREAT PUMPKIN DAY, MIDDLE SCHOOL!

The entire Middle School celebrated Pumpkin Day with multiple fun fall activities today. Students worked in groups to decorate pumpkins inspired by this year’s theme: Hollywood hits! Once the pumpkins were completed, students spread out around campus to participate in contests like Tug-of-Thor and Hollywood Walk of Fame, a four way capture the flag game.

Middle School kicks off Real Talk series

The Middle School kicked off its Real Talk series in mid-October. Students met in Founders Hall during first period to hear from a panel of students and teachers who have experienced different kinds of seen and unseen challenges. Panelists answered questions about their challenges submitted by students through a survey. “These discussions intend to assist students in developing a certain level of cultural competency, sensitivity, and acceptance of others,” Middle School science teacher Kristin Suer said. World language teacher Jacky Kalubi and Suer will facilitate two other panel discussions throughout the school year with other students and faculty members who identify with the topics.

Creepy critters!

Sixth graders learned all about their new friend, the termite, during Creepy Critters Day, in late October. Students and parents had a morning filled with fun writing exercises, experiments, and more! One of their favorite activities was drawing an ink line on a piece of paper and watching as their termite followed the line automatically.
