Just Be You-GSA Club Welcomes Kalpana Kotagal ’95

The Just Be You-GSA club welcomed Kalpana Kotagal ’95 to learn about her incredible work for advancing equity in access to health care for transgender and nonbinary people. With the Transgender Legal Defense & Education Fund, Kotagal led a pivotal access-to-health care negotiation on behalf of four transgender women. She also discussed policy issues currently being discussed in Washington, D.C. regarding the LGBTQ+ community. Kotagal is a partner at Cohen Milstein Sellers & Toll, PLLC, in the firm’s Civil Rights & Employment practice. She is co-chair of the firm’s Hiring and Diversity Committee and manages the firm’s Fellowship Program for recent law school graduates. As a highly-acclaimed employment and civil rights litigator, Kotagal represents historically marginalized people in employment and civil rights class actions, involving often cutting-edge issues related to Title VII, Equal Pay Act, the Americans with Disabilities Act, and Family Medical Leave Act, as well as wage theft issues.

Seventh Graders volunteer at Matthew 25: Ministries

On March 17, seventh grade students volunteered at Matthew 25: Ministries to assist with sorting products that will be shipped to areas in need around the world. Students were also given a tour of the facility and learned more about the organization’s history and commitment to helping its local and global community. Middle School students throughout the years have collected countless items in partnership with Matthew 25: Ministries, such as the Turkey and Syria Earthquake Relief item drive in February and the Aid for Ukraine item drive in spring 2022.

Sixth Graders compete in heart anatomy relays

Sixth graders in teacher Jennifer Licata’s class raced against the clock in a relay through a heart anatomy obstacle course, testing their knowledge of the heart. Students competed one team at a time in the sixth grade commons where Licata organized tunnels to mimic the heart’s anatomy. Students used balls to simulate how blood circulates through the heart.
