Happy Thanksgiving from The Seven Hills School!
We wish you and your family a happy Thanksgiving! Seven Hills is thankful for you and all you do to sustain our wonderful community.

The Turkey Tango Continues!
Although Lotspeich and the Upper School could not gather for the Thanksgiving assembly, second-graders and seniors still danced the Turkey Tango separately. Lower School students, led by Lotspeich music teacher Robin Wilson, danced the Tango near the playground. Seniors recorded their Tango later in the week.

Third-graders Write Gratitude Journals
Third-graders in Yael Newman and Kim Walden’s classes reflected on the theme of gratitude with journal entries in honor of the Thanksgiving holiday. “We started the activity by thinking about 20 things we’re grateful for,” Newman said. Students thought of everything from family members to their health to nature to video games. Each third-grader wrote journal entries and dedicated their work to someone in their lives. In addition to reflection on gratitude, as part of the activity, students also practiced skills in basic and elaborate paragraph structure as well as self-editing and organization.

Kindergarteners Count by 5s and 10s
Throughout the school year, kindergarteners in Diane Schulteis’ class practice counting by 5s and 10s. Every 10 days, a fictional character named Zero the Hero “visits” kindergarten as part of a lesson and students countdown to zero by 5s and 10s. For the 60th day of school, students made turkeys with six feathers. Students practiced counting by 10s on the feathers, writing the number 10, 20, 30, etc. on each feather.
