Pre-k Runs Mini Pig

The pre-kindergarten students completed the Mini Pig, two whole laps around the soccer field, on May 5. This year marked the 20th anniversary of the Doherty Mini Pig, which was started by retired Doherty teacher Cyndi Kenyon in honor of the Cincinnati Flying Pig Marathon. After going through stretches with physical education teacher Marty Gerhardt, the pre-k students took off, cheered on by their fellow Doherty students and their parents. “The students worked hard to prepare for the event, learning to care for their bodies, eat well, and exercise,” said Head of Doherty Tracy Murch.

Olympic Day

Doherty students had a blast on Olympic Day! In the gym, the pre-kindergarten for 2-year-olds and pre-kindergarten students tested their skills at bowling, scooters, hippity hops, and an obstacle course. The rest of the school competed in various activities in their Hives, cross-grade buddy groups made up of students from kindergarten through fifth grade. The day was capped off with the annual kickball game between the teachers and the fifth graders, ending in a narrow win by the teachers.

Doherty Carnival!

Despite the rain forcing the festivities inside, the Doherty Carnival was a great success on May 12. Throughout the gym and cafeteria patrons of all ages enjoyed inflatables, games, face painting, prizes, food, fun, and more. Thank you to the Parent Community for putting on such a wonderful event!

Second graders welcome pen pals to campus

Second grade students welcomed their pen pals, second graders at College Hill Fundamental Academy, to the Doherty Campus in May. The visit started with a playground meetup, where the students played soccer, basketball, and explored the playground together. The Doherty students and teachers gave the CHF students and teachers a brief tour of campus before the students worked together on a STEAM activity in the science lab. The pen pal program is part of the ongoing commitment to community collaboration and extending learning outside the classroom.
