A State Title for Boys Golf
The boys varsity golf team is the 2022 Division III state champions. After going down on the first day of the tournament, the Stingers were able to make up 11 shots and win by 5 overall. Junior Charlie Mullinbirdied on two of the three final holes, which put him in third place overall and earned him a spot on the First Team All-Ohio. The team was honored during a pep rally as part of Stinger Day at the Upper School. Congrats, Stingers!
Girls golf competes at State
For the first time in school history, a Seven Hills girls golf team competed at the state tournament. The team finished eighth overall with junior Julia Zhu shooting a combined 172 and finishing in 26th. The Stingers finished in second place at sectionals to qualify for the Division II state tournament. This is only the second season for the girls golf team. Congrats to the following golfers for making it to the state tournament: Zhu, sophomore Lucie Pease, junior Maggie Motch, and seniors Riley deBuys and Emily Rosenfeld. For the week of Oct. 10, the team was nominated for the Enquirer’s Top Ohio Fall Girls Team of the Week and Zhu was nominated for Top Ohio Girls Golfer of the Week.
Boys soccer advanced to District Final
The boys varsity soccer team advanced to the finals of the district tournament after defeating Clark Montessori 10-0 and higher seeded Georgetown 2-0. The Stingers fought hard against Casstown Miami East on Oct. 27, keeping the game scoreless through regulation. The Stingers were outscored in penalty kicks 4-3. The team was the Miami Valley Conference champions and finished the season with a record of 11-2-4. Congrats on a great season!
Girls Tennis competes at Districts
The girls varsity tennis doubles team of sophomore Charlotte Scharfenberger and senior Sohana Thompson competed at the district tournament and advanced to the second round. They defeated Summit Country Day in the sectional tournament to take third place and qualify for districts. For the week of Oct. 10, Scharfenberger and Thompson were nominated for the Enquirer’s Top Doubles Tennis Team of the Week.
Volleyball competes at sectionals
The girls varsity volleyball team defeated North College Hill High School in the first round of the sectional tournament. After a hard fight against #1 seed Williamsburg, the Stingers were defeated. The Stingers were the Miami Valley Conference champions this season with an in-conference record of 9-1. Good job, stingers!
Cross Country races at Regionals
The boys and girls varsity cross country teams competed at the regionals meet on Oct. 29. Both teams placed 11th overall. Both teams placed fourth at the district meet on Oct. 22 to qualify for regionals. Junior Carter Stevens finished fifth overall in the boys race. Congrats on an excellent season, Stingers!
Girls Soccer honors eight seniors
The girls varsity and junior varsity soccer teams honored its seniors during the Senior Night games against Clermont Northeastern. Congrats to Jade Morse, Olivia Morris, Christy Baldwin, Biz Kohnen, Gemma Baldwin, Anna Papakirk, Ashley Mclennan, and Edie Tesfaye. The varsity Stingers finished the regular season on Oct. 12 and qualified for the sectional tournament. Sophomore goalkeeper Sammy Willard was second in the Miami Valley Conference in saves with 116 and had four shutouts.
