Spirit and Family Food Truck Night

It was fun, food, sports, and spirit on the Hillsdale Campus on May 8 for Spirit Family Food Truck Night. While cheering on the boys and girls lacrosse teams, spectators enjoyed food from Jorge’s Tacos, Big Dogs Pizza, and Kona Ice. All youth spring sports athletes were honored on the lower field between the varsity lacrosse games, getting high-fives and cheers from the varsity athletes. Thank you to the Upper School Parent Community and Athletic Boosters for organizing the event.

Boys Tennis is Sectional, MVC Champs

The boys varsity tennis team dominated at the sectional tournament. Senior Cole Cozens and junior Avi Mahajan both defeated four opponents to face each other in the final round. Cozens was named the sectional champion with Mahajan as the runner-up. The doubles team of juniors John Corbett and Ethan Blattfinished in second, with the doubles team of junior Gavin Isakov and senior Neel Parameswaran finishing third. The team won its third consecutive Miami Valley Conference championship. The Stingers were undefeated in the MVC with an 8-0 record and were 19-1 overall, with the only loss being to Division I Sycamore. Mahajan and Cozens went one and two, respectively, in first singles. Corbett and Blatt were number one in first doubles. The Stingers won Flight A of the GCTCA Coaches Classic, beating Mason, Sycamore, St. Xavier, Springboro, and Indian Hill.

Softball is MVC Champs

For the fourth time in five seasons, the girls varsity softball team has won the Miami Valley Conference title. The team went undefeated in conference with a record of 10-0. The Stingers competed in the sectional tournament, but fell in the first round after a hard fought game. Sophomore Annie Katuska lead the MVC in four categories with nine home runs and a 1.44 ERA and, from the mound, 12 wins and 177 strikeouts. Senior Julia Tamai had eight homeruns and 37 RBIs this season, with the third highest batting average in the MVC at .778.  Junior Erin Pierani earned an Enquirer nomination for the week of May 1 for having two four-hit games against St. Bernard-Elmwood Place and North College Hills. She had 17 RBIs across the two games.

Stingers win big at MVC Championship Track Meet

The co-ed varsity track team won multiple events at the Miami Valley Conference Meet on May 11. Junior Callie Drew won the 200 meter and the 4×400 relay team of Drew, freshman Claire Bachelder, junior Margret Schnirring, and senior Abigail Li also took first. Individually, Li finished third in the 800 meter and Bachelder finished fourth in the 400 meter. Freshman Sabrina Donovan took fourth in discus. For the boys, junior Carter Stevens placed third in the 800 meter and fourth in the 1600 meter. The 4×400 relay team of Stevens, freshman Malcolm Faison and sophomores Ryan Brackett and Brady O’Connor finished second.

Girls Lacrosse Competes at Regionals

The girls varsity lacrosse team advanced to the second round of the regional tournament defeating Dayton Oakwood 13-6. The team will face Indian Hill on May 20. The Stingers finished the regular season second in the Miami Valley Conference with an in-conference record of 3-1 and an overall record of 12-5. The team had multiple high-scoring wins this season. Senior Biz Kohnen led the conference with 59 goals and scored her 100th career goal as a Stinger this season. The team honored its eight seniors during the 13-1 victory over McNicholas. Congrats on a great final season with the Stingers, Kohnen, Zara Asghar, Clara Chen, Mallory Dorsch, Charlotte Lafley, Olivia Morris, Jade Morse, and Anna Papakirk.

Baseball Finishes Second in Division

The boys varsity baseball team finished second in the Miami Valley Conference Gray Division with an in-conference record of 10-2 and an overall record of 12-4. The Stingers competed in the sectional tournament on May 15. Senior Ryan Meador led the MVC with 29 RBIs on the season. The Stingers had a big win on senior night, beating North College Hill 26-0. Congrats on all your hard work and dedication and your final season as a Stinger, Meador, Beau Goldstein, Will Kersting, George Mentrup, Jonny Osman, and Will Wiles.

Boys Lacrosse finishes second in division

The boys varsity lacrosse team finished second in the Miami Valley Conference with an in-conference record of 2-1 and an overall record of 11-5. Senior Elias Buttress earned an Enquirer nomination for the week of May 1 for having eight saves against Cincinnati Country Day and six saves against Talawanda in the same week. Buttress was second in the MVC with 118 saves on the season. Senior Jack Good had 42 goals and 16 assists this season. He scored his 100th career goal as a Stinger against Walnut Hills. The Stingers won big on senior night beating Division I Anderson 14-7. Congrats on a great final season, Buttress, Good, Sam Adams, Logan Bien, Jai Chaudhary, Kai Kasgupta-Simpson, Gabe Dorsch, Will Gabriel, John Mullin, and Kye Uchiyama.
