Girls Basketball on Win Streak
The girls varsity basketball team has had an excellent start to the 2021-22 season, going undefeated in the first eight games. The Stingers are currently leading their division. The Cincinnati Enquirer named the team the top Ohio girls basketball team of the week for Dec. 6 for the win streak and for allowing an average of only 25.4 points per game for the first four games.
Senior Wins Sportsmanship Award
Senior Joshua Porter was given the Dick Snyder Sportsmanship Award by the Miami Valley Conference. The award, named after retired Seven Hills Athletic Director Dick “Duke” Snyder, is given to athletes who display integrity and good sportsmanship through the season. Porter is the goalkeeper for the boys varsity soccer team and had 111 saves throughout the season.
Boys Break Bowling Record
The boys varsity bowling team broke the Seven Hills record for Baker 4 Game with an 805 total during the first match of the season. Seniors Thomas Murphy and Noah Kocher, juniors Will Kersting and Jonny Osman, and sophomore Elan Little surpassed the record of 796 set in 2016. The team is off to a great start for the season and currently on a six-match win streak.
Two Stingers are ‘swimmers to watch’
Seniors Ella Jo Piersma and Corinne Kieser were highlighted as the Cincinnati Enquirer’s “swimmers to watch” this winter for the Miami Valley Conference. Piersma holds the Division II state title in 100 freestyle and 200 freestyle. Last season, Kieser placed third in 100 freestyle and sixth in 200 freestyle at the state meet.
