Amid an ominous thunderstorm on Tuesday, Nov. 18, Unit III students faced the challenges of the first round of the Doherty Spelling Bee.

Facing off with their classmates and judged by teachers Allison Hills and Bill Schmidt, the Unit III students successfully spelled words like ajar, hockey, shimmer, and swampy to advance out of the first round and earn a chance to be the Doherty Spelling Bee champion during the final round on Dec. 16.

Congratulations and good luck to Caroline Dust, Charlie Huls, Claire Cassady, Claire Martin, Claire Morelli, Ethan Wood, Mac Connelly, Narayan King, Reid Luther, and Sarah Guillen.
