Pre-K Runs the Doherty Mini Pig
May 11, 2026
The Doherty pre-kindergartners got ready for Flying Pig weekend with their own version of the race, the Doherty Mini Pig. The day began with the runners attending packet pig, staffed by the Girls on the Run Club.

Eileen Dowd, pre-kindergarten for 2-year-olds assistant teacher, led the students through warm ups and stretches while hyping the crowd of parents for the race

Then, the dedicated pre-k runners raced two-laps around the soccer field, cheered on by their teachers, parents, and fellow students.

Doherty Lifers from the Class of 2026 handed out water at the water station before racing a lap themselves.

Retired Doherty teacher Cyndi Kenyon began the tradition of the Doherty Mini Pig 23 years ago in honor of the Flying Pig Marathon, whose course goes past the campus.
