Learning to Improve in Fourth Grade Science
March 2, 2026
The fourth graders are studying renewable energy in Robin Taylor-Fabe’s science class. They attempted to make their own wind turbines to power an LED light, but none of them worked as well as they envisioned.
The class then welcomed Doherty parent Clarissa Belloni, engineer and university professor, who is an expert in wind turbines. She brought models to help the students understand what went wrong with their projects.
The students gained a deeper understanding of how wind turbines work as they were able to compare and contrast the working models to their projects.
