Doherty Hives Welcome Kindergartners and New Students

Activity for the Doherty Hives started with an exciting induction ceremony. Art teacher Kacey Watkins and kindergarten teacher Lindsay Pietroski showered kindergartners and new students with balloons representing their Hive color. The Hives are multiage buddy groups with students in kindergarten through fifth grade, each with their own name and color.
Once sorted, the new Hive members received their colored bandanas and joined their Hive members to work on their name and poster. Throughout the school year, the Hives will build friendships across grade levels and help to foster a sense of belonging. Under the leadership of the Beekeepers, the Unit III students in each Hive, the students complete activities, work on a community service project, and compete in Olympic Day.
