First grade annual Plant Sale
The Lotspeich Plant Sale was a delightful display of the students’ botany talents and business acumen. Family and friends browsed the wide variety of plants available for purchase on Wednesday morning, with first graders ready to provide tips and tricks for each plant’s specific care. First graders spent several weeks growing their inventory for their plant nursery in Project Math and were in charge of keeping track of inventory and sales during the event.

Second grade Arcade Day
Hip, hip, hooray for Lotspeich second graders’ arcade day! Second graders invited Lotspeich students of all ages to play their interpretations of arcade classics they designed during Project Math. For several weeks before the big day, second graders worked hard constructing their visions alongside Project Math teacher Jacquie Berting. Students planned and prepared every part of Arcade Day, including marketing, creating a presentation to share with their visitors, and keeping track of participation. As Lotspeich students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade played their games, second graders collected data, which they will organize, graph, and analyze to determine the total number of games played, among other data points.

Hoo’s there? Owls from Raptor Inc.!
Second graders enjoyed a visit from Raptor Inc., a non profit organization dedicated to the conservation of birds of prey via rehabilitation, education, research, and community service.
Students loved meeting Ceron, a screech owl, and Spencer, a barred owl, during Raptor Inc.’s visit.
