Brief Word—May 19, 2022

As we race through the “60 days of May,” the school calendar continues to provide a whirlwind of activity.

For the first time in three years, we were able to offer the traditional year-end festivals that mean so much to our Lower School students. Lotspeich’s May Fete and the Doherty Carnival were both tremendous successes, filled with food, fun, and fellowship for our Lower School families.  My sincere thanks to the dozens of volunteers from the Parent Community who worked so hard to pull these events together.

Then, last Friday, we marked our seniors’ last official day with a festive school-wide senior circle More than 1,000 students, 200 employees, and 300 family members gathered on the soccer field to celebrate this class and all they have accomplished. The event was followed by joyous outdoor picnics on both campuses. What a treat to come together as a community to mark this momentous occasion!

Tuesday morning, those in carpool line were treated to a delightful al fresco string concert by six third and fourth graders. Then today, as the Doherty students began rehearsals for their own year-end convocation, the Lotspeich students in grades one through four gathered in The Schiff Center for an elaborate year-end musical performance.

With the Upper School Prom and May Terms coming up this week, there is, always, a great deal going on!
