Seven Hills Welcomes Year of the Tiger

Students throughout the Seven Hills School learned about and celebrated Lunar New Year. Doherty students learned about the Year of the Tiger, the years they were born in, and made lanterns. In the Upper School, students decorated their advisory doors with lanterns and couplets after learning about the traditions behind door decorating. Dancers and musicians from the Bing Yang Chinese Performing Arts Center, including two Seven Hills students, gave a performance in The Schiff Center as part of the celebrations.

Students take part in Freedom from Chemical Dependency Week

As part of Freedom from Chemical Dependency Week, fifth through 12th graders heard from speaker John Tumman over Zoom about substance abuse awareness and prevention. Hazelden Betty Ford Prevention Solutions, a nonprofit formerly called Freedom from Chemical Dependency, has been working with Seven Hills for more than 25 years as part of the counseling department’s commitment to prevention and wellness, said Upper School counselor Vicky Hausberger. “The goal is to educate students about the effects of alcohol and drugs and encourage them to make positive choices and develop healthy coping skills,” Hausberger said.
