October 5, 2026
Seven Hills congratulates five students for placing in the Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra (CSYO), and one student for placing in the Butler Philharmonic Youth Orchestra (BPYO) and the Cincinnati Youth Wind Ensemble (CYWE).
We’re Stinger proud of senior Irene Zhang (CSYO), junior Mia Wang (CSYO), sophomores Bryan Zhang (BPYO and CYWE) and Angella Zong (CSYO), ninth grader Ethan Wang (CSYO), and eighth grader Belle Yang (CSYO).
The CSYO, BPYO and CYWE all required competitive auditions in order to get a spot in the ensemble or orchestra. Once accepted, musicians in any of the three receive weekly rehearsals with some of the most talented musicians in the region.
In addition to placing in CSYO, Irene Zhang and Ethan Wang were chosen for the Ohio Music Education Association (OMEA) Southwest Regional Orchestra, and Angella Zong was chosen for the OMEA All-State Band.
Upper and Middle instrumental music teacher John Rising said being selected for these top-level orchestras is a “tremendous honor.”
“I know that all of the students representing Seven Hills are accomplished musicians,” Rising said. “Having the chance to rehearse and perform with some of the region and state’s finest musicians is an awesome musical opportunity!”
