Pre-K Students Explore Art
December 3, 2025
On Nov. 7, the Cincinnati Art Museum visited Lotspeich prekindergartners as part of their art unit.
“Having the Cincinnati Art Museum visit our classrooms truly brought our art unit to life!” Pre-k teacher Kayla Cappannelli said. “The hands-on project they led reinforced what we’ve been learning about colors, shapes, lines, and famous artists.”

Mr. Rob, the museum educator, encouraged the young learners to observe like artists and helped deepen their understanding of how artists create and share their work.
“Bringing the museum to us made the learning authentic, accessible, and exciting for our pre-kindergartners, and it inspired them as they continue developing their own creative projects,” Cappannelli said.
In late November, students opened their own art gallery for family and friends to visit. The budding artists loved sharing their creativity and what they’d learn from the unit with everyone who visited.

The gallery was a vibrant display of the children’s artwork, each piece telling a unique story through bright colors and imaginative designs. Proudly, the young artists guided their families through the exhibition, explaining the inspiration behind their creations and the techniques they had practiced.
Pre-k students even “sold” tickets to the exhibition, greeting visitors, and offering them a program.
The room buzzed with pride, as the students beamed from the admiration their work received.

This special event not only celebrated the students’ artistic achievements but also highlighted the importance of community involvement in education. It fostered a sense of accomplishment and encouraged the young learners to continue exploring their creative potential.
