Lower School Celebrates the End of Another Great Year
June 2, 2025

The end of the year was filled with activities for our Lower School students.
The Doherty pre-kindergarteners kicked it off with the annual running of the Doherty Mini Pig. Cheered on by their classmates, teachers, parents, and Doherty lifers from the Class of 2025, the students raced two laps around the soccer field.
Rainy weather forced Doherty Olympic Day inside, but all students had a blast testing their skills at limbo, scooters, hippity hops, and an obstacle course. The kindergarten through fifth grade students competed in their Hives, racing against each other and showing off their strength in tug-o-war.
Though the annual fifth grade vs. student kickball game was cut short because of a rain delay, the two Unit III classes faced off against each other in dodgeball with their teachers Bill Schmidt and Allison Hills bravely entering the fray to play alongside their students.
Lotspeich fifth grade students loved carrying on the students vs. teachers tradition during the annual tennis baseball game. Though it was drizzling outside, students and faculty lit up Kalnow Gym with their friendly competition. Head of School Matt Bolton joined the fun for a couple of innings, competing on the teachers’ team. The following day, all of Lotspeich celebrated Field Day on the upper field and competed in a series of mini-games with their grade-level classmates while being cheered on by their teachers.
Over at Doherty, the pre-k and kindergarten students celebrated their last day with a petting zoo, face paint, temporary tattoos, and special treats. Lotspeich pre-k and kindergarten students celebrated their last day with an indoor breakfast picnic while watching videos from the year.
What a way to cap off the 2024-25 school year!
