Genius Hour in Unit III

Every Friday, Unit III students in Allison Hills’ class work on becoming geniuses in a topic of their choosing.

After their topic is approved, the students practice their research and reading comprehension skills as they gather information. Students work on their public speaking and language arts skills while writing information for their project and presentation.

Fourth grader Claire Morelli was one of the year’s first presenters, sharing what she learned about cats, including information about four different breeds and various feline fun facts.

Even in the weeks that students aren’t presenting, they are learning to be active, engaged listeners and supportive of their classmates by asking questions and giving constructive feedback.
