Facing Fears in PK2

During the Lower School Book Fair, Doherty’s youngest students learned that mascots aren’t so scary after all through a visit from beloved children’s book character Pete the Cat. The “Pete the Cat” book series is a favorite among the pre-kindergarten for 2-year-old students.

Some of the students were nervous at first of the Pete the cat mascot costume. But, teacher Julie Brackett showed the students that it is just a person inside the costume by putting it on in front of them. “The students loved watching the transformation and learned that mascots are simply friendly characters who bring stories to life,” Brackett said. |
