In the spirit of coming together and building community, Doherty’s Unit II welcomed the third graders from Lotspeich to their classrooms and the Doherty Campus.

The students started the day by interviewing each other, asking questions about themselves and their campuses to learn the similarities and differences between their schools and themselves.

Then, they listened to “The Leaf Thief” by Alice Hemming, a book about trees, leaves, and autumn, be read by Doherty Unit II teacher Sherri Linville

The students shared facts they knew about deciduous and coniferous trees. The student then designed and decorated their own leaves while getting to know their new friends.
